Please find on this page some activities we would like the children to work through during the time they are spending at home to consolidate and keep their learning moving on.
We have included some phonics and grammar work, literacy and maths activities, this will enable the children consolidate what they have learned so far in Year 2. We have also added some topic work both on their current topic of Ancient Egypt and also starting to look at the next topic which is Space.
We have included a list of useful websites that you can access for stories, maths, literacy and P.E. We hope these will keep them entertained and be familiar to them.
We would also like you to continue to listen to your child read and share stories as much as possible, to develop their accuracy, fluency and comprehension. Questioning the children on what they have read, what has happened and what they predict may happen will also be helpful for their understanding.
Please continue to work on the Year 2 common exception words list enclosed reading and spelling of these.
We would also like the children to be encouraged to play board games/games like snakes and ladders, dominoes, Guess Who, Frustration, etc, to encourage turn taking, description, counting forwards and backwards etc.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support at this unprecedented time. We hope to see everyone back into school as soon as possible.
Good luck and keep safe and well.
