Talk4Writing: This week we are going to begin our own innovation of the story, but before we can do that we need to make sure the children really know the origional version. Look back at the videos on tapestry and use your own story map to retell the story. Really encourage your child to retell the story using the language from the story. The story needs to be really embedded in their minds so they have internalised the sentence patterns. We want to avoid them using their own everyday language such as "and then" through the story. Use today to retell the story in as many ways as possible. You could act it out again, use small world figures or use puppets/teddies.

Tuesday 19th January

Group 1:Today we are learning /v/

Group 2: Today we are learning a new digraph /ng/..

Talk4Writing: For today's activity you might like to watch the supporting video on tapestry.

Today we are going to look at innovating the story to make our own version. You will need a copy of your original story map or you can print mine off from the documents at the bottom on the page.

Start retelling the story – “the hour was late” … but instead of Mr Bear, Mrs Bear and Baby Bear being tired. Who could we have in our story? Let the children choose whoever they would like. If they aren’t sure then perhaps have a selection of characters they could pick from. Continue... So they all went to bed.

Innovate as much of the story as your child wants to. If you want to change the settings you can, but equally if they want to keep the same ones that’s okay too. Allow your child to take control of creating their own story orally. Note changes to the story using post it notes over your original story map.

Wednesday 20th January

Talk4Writing: Today we are asking the children to a story map for their new story. Use the changes from yesterday to draw a new complete story map of your innovations, telling the story as you go along.

Thursday 21st January

Please access today's phonics lesson through Tapestry where possible.

Group 1: Today we are learning /x/.

Group 2:Today we are learning tricky words 'was' and 'my.'

For today's mathematics lesson, please use Alive in 5: Week 3, lesson 4.

Talk4Writing: Today please ask your child to retell their new story and encourage them to use as much story language as possible. Scribe their story for them using the exact words they say. You could type it/write it on a fancy piece of paper or even make your own little book to write it in. As you scribe you could ask your child to help you spell the odd word - perhaps asking them to identify the initial sound in a word or ask them to write any simple CVC words they might have said e.g. cat, bed. This is primarily a language development and story telling task so if they don't want to help writing any of it at this stage please don't worry. We want to develop the language now so that when they are more confident to write themselves they will have the sentence patterns and language to support it (Talk4Writing!)

If your child would like to share their story with the rest of the class that would be great. Please post the story on tapestry and state that you are happy for it to be shared. I will then collate the stories and share on a single post for tomorrow.

Friday 22nd January

Group 1:Today we are recapping /j/v/w/x/.
