Core daily activities are listed below. These mirror what we will be teaching in school each day. If your child does some days in school, you only need to do the activities for the days they are at home please.

At the bottom of the page you will also find additional activities you may wish to do with your child over the week - these are not core activities but suggested activities.

Monday 1st February

Talk4Writing: Re-watch the story of 'Whatever Next' on tapestry or if you have your own copy you could share that together. Today we are going to have a go at getting into character and try some 'hot seating'. One person of your family should pretend to be baby bear whilst the others ask them questions e.g. about his rocket, his trip to the moon or his bath. You could then swap roles.

Talk4Writing Space: The Moon: What does your child already know about the moon? Explain that the moon orbits the Earth, whilst the Earth orbits the sun. You could model this using balls/spherical fruit. If you have any books about space perhaps you could explore more facts about the moon. We have also attached some moon related experiments you and your child may like to try.

Talk4Writing Space: Today we are going to learn about astronauts. Astronauts are trained specially to flight spaceships and serve on space missions. Have a look at some of these videos from the astronauts who have lived on the international space station. There are lots to explore, such as how to brush your teeth, taking space walks or how to use the toilet!

If you were to go to space like Baby Bear did or as an astronaut, what would you take with you? Can you draw/write what you would take onto the suitcase.

Talk4Writing Space: Technology: What else would your child like to learn about space? Write down some of their questions for them. Then show them how we can use a search engine to type our question and find the answer. Explore their questions on your device. Perhaps they could write a fact they have learnt or draw a picture/make a model to show what they have learnt.

Play simple board games in which the players move the required amount of spaces shown on the dice. You could also play dominoes or mix up some socks to see who can find the most pairs!
