Penny Summerlin-Community Governor

I have been a teacher at Nettleham Junior School for over 21 years and have experience of teaching across the primary age range from Reception to Year 6. I am also the Associate Head, have passed my National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) and have experience of primary education at a leadership level.

Teaching has always been a passion of mine since a very young age and I am continuously looking to improve my skills and knowledge in the hope that I can disseminate this and inspire the children I work with, so I was excited by the opportunity to become a community governor.

Aside from my interests in education, I am also passionate about animal welfare. I am a vegan and take in rescue animals in need of a loving home whenever I can. My other interests include rugby, skiing and netball (playing, umpiring, coaching and as an active committee member of my local league.)

I believe in helping children to thrive and being the best versions of themselves; in giving them the skills, tools and strategies they need to succeed in life and develop bright futures.
